Dr. Tom Thompson has been practicing in Cobb County since 1987. He received his B.S. in Biology and Chemistry from The State University of West Georgia in 1981 and a M.S. in Microbiology from The University of Georgia in 1983. Dr. Thompson continued his education at The University of Georgia , where he received a Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine in 1987.
Dr. Thompson is a general practitioner with special interests in orthopedic surgery and internal medicine. He is a member of the Cobb Veterinary Association, Georgia Veterinary Association, Greater Atlanta Veterinary Association, and the American Veterinary Medical Association. Dr. Tom Thompson served on the board of directors for the Cobb Emergency Veterinary Clinic and the Cherokee Emergency Veterinary Clinic for three years. He is currently completing his fourth year of service on the board of directors for Friends of Gilmer County and continues to be the sole veterinary supporter of Homeward Bound Pet Rescue in Gilmer County.
When Dr. Tom Thompson is not serving the community or practicing veterinary medicine, he is spending time with his wife, Kate, and son, Matthew. He enjoys photography, gardening , and scuba diving.
Dr. Thompson currently has one canine family member; Channelsen. Dr. Thompson rescued Channelsen after the male cockapoo was diagnosed with blindness at birth. |
