Our Team

The team at Ellijay Animal Hospital is as diverse as they are experienced, please take a moment to find out more about who the members are.
Dr.Thompson
Dr. Tom Thompson

Dr. Tom Thompson has been practicing in Cobb County since 1987.  He received his B.S. in Biology and Chemistry from The State University of West Georgia in 1981 and a M.S. in Microbiology from The University of Georgia in 1983.  Dr. Thompson continued his education at The University of Georgia , where  he received a Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine in 1987.

Dr. Thompson is a general practitioner with special interests in orthopedic surgery and internal medicine.  He is a member of the Cobb Veterinary Association, Georgia Veterinary Association, Greater Atlanta Veterinary Association, and the American Veterinary  Medical Association.  Dr. Tom Thompson served on the board of directors for the Cobb Emergency Veterinary Clinic and the Cherokee Emergency Veterinary Clinic for three  years.  He is currently completing his fourth  year of service on the board of directors for Friends of Gilmer County and continues to be the sole veterinary supporter of Homeward Bound Pet Rescue in Gilmer County.

When Dr. Tom Thompson is not serving the community or practicing veterinary medicine, he is spending time with his wife, Kate, and son, Matthew.  He enjoys  photography, gardening , and scuba diving.
 

Dr. Thompson currently has one canine family member; Channelsen.  Dr. Thompson rescued Channelsen after  the male cockapoo was diagnosed with blindness at birth.

Dr. Jeff Redman

Dr. Jeff Redman has been with us since 2008.  He received his B.S. in Animal Science Industry from Kansas State University in 1994. He worked in the western states for 5 years in the cattle industry before studying veterinary medicine at Kansas State University in 2002. Dr. Redman received his Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine from Kansas State University in 2006.


When Dr. Redman is not caring for our pets, he spends his time hiking, riding his motorcycle, and riding his horses.

Dr. Redman has 1 canine companion; Trouble.  He has 1 feline companion; Little Boy Cat. He also has 2 horses; Cassie and Stormy.
